Syro-African Depression : ウィキペディア英語版 | Syro-African Depression
The Syro-African Depression - meant is the Syro-African Rift Valley, or better still Great Rift Valley, an outdated term still used by some in Israel, as the rest of the text shows. A large area of low-lying land in the Middle East. It comprises all of the land that is part of the drainage basin of the Dead Sea and is spread over Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, the West Bank, and Syria. The Syro part of the name comes from it being found in the area sometimes described as the region of Syria, while the African part of the name refers to the fact that the depression is geologically the northernmost part of the African Rift Valley system, despite the fact that it is not in Africa.
